Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Nyasekai

General

What is Nyasekai?

Nyasekai is a marketplace where indie developers can buy and sell side projects, apps, codebases, and micro-SaaS. We offer lower fees (5%) than competitors like as other platforms (10-15%) and focus on a clean, developer-first experience.

Is it free to list projects?

Yes! Listing projects is completely free. We only charge a 5% commission when you successfully make a sale. No upfront costs, no monthly fees (unless you choose Premium).

What types of projects can I sell?

You can sell any type of software project: SaaS applications, websites, mobile apps, plugins, AI projects, codebases, and more. Projects can be revenue-generating or side projects you want to move on from.

Do I need to have revenue to list?

No! Unlike some marketplaces, you don't need revenue to list. You can sell side projects, MVPs, or any codebase. Revenue information is optional but recommended as it helps buyers assess value.

For Sellers

How much does it cost to sell?

Listing is free. We charge a 5% platform commission only when you make a sale. For example, if you sell for $4,000, you receive $3,800 and we take $200. However, please note that additional Stripe processing fees and currency exchange rates may apply. Total fees may exceed 5% due to Stripe's transaction fees and FX rates, which are not controlled by Nyasekai. This is still the lowest commission in the industry.

How do I get paid?

You'll connect your Stripe account (takes 2-5 minutes). When a sale completes, funds are held in escrow for 7 days. After the buyer confirms receipt, funds are automatically released to your Stripe account. Payouts take 2-3 business days.

What's included in Premium?

Premium ($4.99/month) includes featured listings with special badges to increase visibility. Free tier is fully functional—Premium just gives more visibility and analytics access.

Can I cancel Premium anytime?

Yes, absolutely. Cancel your Premium subscription at any time with no questions asked. You'll retain access until the end of your billing period.

What's the difference between Featured and Sponsored listings?

Featured listings (included with Premium) appear in the top 3 search results. Sponsored listings ($19/week for marketplace, $9/week for showcase) are always shown first with special highlighting and get 3-5x more views. Think of Featured as good visibility, Sponsored as maximum visibility.

How long does it take to sell?

It varies. Some projects sell within days, others take weeks or months. Factors include: pricing, project quality, market demand, and how well you present the listing. Premium and Sponsored listings typically sell faster due to increased visibility.

For Buyers

How do I buy a project?

Browse projects, find one you like, and make an offer. Negotiate with the seller through our chat system. Once you agree on a price, proceed to payment. Funds are held in escrow for 7 days while you verify you received everything as promised.

Is it safe to buy?

Yes. We use 7-day escrow protection, secure Stripe payments, and offer a money-back guarantee if the project doesn't match the listing. We also verify sellers and monitor for suspicious activity.

What happens if the project isn't as described?

Contact our support team within 7 days of payment. We'll review the dispute and can issue a refund if the project doesn't match the listing description. Our escrow system protects you.

Can I negotiate the price?

Yes! Make an offer at any price (below, at, or above asking). Sellers can accept, reject, or counter your offer. Negotiate through our built-in chat system until you reach an agreement.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept credit cards and debit cards through Stripe. All payments are secure and PCI-compliant.

Pricing & Fees

Why is your commission only 5%?

We believe in volume over high margins. By keeping fees low, we attract more sellers and more listings, which benefits everyone. Other platforms charge 10-15% plus listing fees. We charge 5% with no listing fees.

Are there any hidden fees?

No hidden fees from Nyasekai. We charge a 5% platform commission on sales. However, Stripe (our payment processor) charges additional processing fees and currency exchange rates may apply. These Stripe fees are separate from our 5% commission and are standard for all payment processors. Total fees may exceed 5% due to Stripe's transaction fees and FX rates, which are not controlled by Nyasekai. No listing fees, no monthly fees (unless you choose Premium).

How does the 5% commission work?

We only charge a 5% platform commission when you successfully sell a project. For example, if you sell for $4,000, we take $200 (5%) and you receive $3,800. The commission covers escrow protection and platform operations. Note: Additional Stripe processing fees and currency exchange rates may apply separately. Total fees may exceed 5% due to Stripe's transaction fees and FX rates, which are not controlled by Nyasekai.

Do buyers pay extra fees?

Buyers pay the negotiated price which includes a 5% platform fee. For example, if you agree on $4,000, the buyer pays $4,000 total (seller receives $3,800, platform gets $200). Note: Additional Stripe processing fees and currency exchange rates may apply. Total fees may exceed 5% due to Stripe's transaction fees and FX rates, which are not controlled by Nyasekai. All fees are clearly shown before payment.

Technical

What tech stack do projects use?

All kinds! We see projects built with React, Next.js, Vue, Python, Node.js, Supabase, Firebase, and many other technologies. You can filter by tech stack when browsing.

Do I get the source code?

Yes, unless otherwise specified. Sellers list what's included in the sale: source code, domain, data, design files, social accounts, etc. Check the listing details before making an offer.

What if the code has issues?

Projects are sold 'as-is' unless the seller explicitly promises support. However, if the code doesn't match what was described in the listing, you can contact support for a refund within 7 days.

Can I see the code before buying?

Some sellers provide GitHub links or demos. You can ask the seller for access during negotiation. However, full code access is typically only provided after payment (protected by escrow).

Support

How do I contact support?

Use our contact form or email infonyasekai@gmail.com. Premium members get 24h priority support. Free users typically get responses within 48 hours.

What if I have a dispute?

Contact support immediately. We'll review the situation and mediate between buyer and seller. If the project doesn't match the listing, we can issue a refund. Our escrow system protects both parties.

Do you offer refunds?

Once both parties have accepted the transaction and the buyer has confirmed receipt (or 7 days have passed), the sale is final and no refunds are issued. If there are issues before confirmation, contact support within 7 days of payment for dispute resolution.
